Waldorf Astoria Heads to Greece: New Luxury Escape Coming to the Peloponnese

Hilton’s legendary Waldorf Astoria brand is heading to Greece. The newly announced Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay will open on the Peloponnese peninsula. The project comes through a management agreement between Hilton and Royal Group Holding, marking the first Waldorf Astoria in Greece.

The Peloponnese, in southern Greece, is a region steeped in history and natural beauty –  rugged mountains, turquoise waters, olive groves, and the birthplace of the Olympic Games. It’s a quieter, more authentic corner of the country compared to the busy islands of Santorini or Mykonos.

What to Expect

Scheduled to open in 2029, the Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay will feature 121 spacious guest rooms and suites, each offering panoramic sea views. Thirteen branded residences will also be part of the development, appealing to travelers who might want to make their Mediterranean escape a bit more permanent.

Guests can look forward to Waldorf Astoria’s signature “True Waldorf Service”, with a personal concierge ensuring every detail of their stay is perfectly arranged. The resort will feature a full-service spa and wellness center designed for complete relaxation, along with indoor and outdoor pools including a spectacular infinity pool overlooking the island of Spetses. For those seeking activity and recreation, there will be a tennis court, fitness studio, and kids club, while culinary experiences will range from the brand’s iconic Peacock Alley to a beach club restaurant, lobby lounge, and café, all offering refined dining in stunning Mediterranean surroundings.

Expanding Hilton’s Luxury Footprint in Greece

For Hilton, this announcement highlights a growing commitment to Greece as a key destination for luxury travel. The company now has more than 60 hotels open or in development across the country – including its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) – from Athens to Crete and the islands. The opening of a Waldorf Astoria marks a key moment for Hilton, strengthening its position in Greece’s luxury hotel scene.

Conclusion

For travelers who already love Waldorf Astoria properties in places like the Maldives, Los Cabos, or Amsterdam, this new Greek resort promises something just as special – a destination where luxury meets ancient heritage.

While we will need to wait a few more years to experience Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay, Hilton’s portfolio of luxury hotels in Greece is quickly taking shape. The brand is preparing to open Conrad Athens, The Ilisian, which is now accepting reservations for stays starting June 1, 2026 (we covered it here), as well as Conrad Corfu, scheduled to open around the middle of next year.
