Last summer, during our tour of China, we couldn’t resist staying at the newly opened Conrad Shenzhen. Since then, we’ve returned two times, most recently in December 2024. Each visit has impressed us, not only with the hotel’s first-class experience but also with the rapid transformation of its surroundings into a green waterfront park.
A Perfect Location in a Dynamic District
Located in the expanding business hub of Qianhai Special Economic Zone, Conrad Shenzhen is just a short walk from the waterfront and offers stunning panoramic views of the bay. When we first visited, the surrounding area was under construction, and accessing the seaside park required navigating along roadside pavements. However, during our December stay, we were delighted to see the completion of the waterfront project. The park now boasts interconnected pedestrian bridges, inviting guests to enjoy hours of relaxing waterfront strolls. Don’t miss the latest Shenzhen attraction: a magnificent Ferris wheel offering amazing views of the city and bay.
Even during the busy Christmas season, the hotel lived up to its high standards. We arrived early in the afternoon before check-in time and headed to the executive lounge. While our room wasn’t ready, the friendly receptionist invited us to relax with drinks. Within ten minutes, she informed us that our room was ready, and our luggage had already been delivered.
As with our previous stays, we were upgraded to an executive room with a high-floor bay view. The view was stunning. Shortly after settling in, we received a welcome gift—a fruit plate and Christmas sweets.
Spacious Rooms with Beautiful Views
Our 603 sq. ft. (56 sq. m.) executive room featured a modern design, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows that bathed the space in natural light and showcased stunning views of Qianhai Bay. The room’s thoughtful layout included a large corner sofa with a round table, a smaller sofa near the king-size bed, and a well-appointed working area. The marble bathroom, equipped with a bathtub and a walk-in rain shower, provided both space and privacy, thanks to a sliding door separating it from the main room.
A notable improvement during this stay was the complimentary minibar, stocked with soft drinks, beer, and snacks such as chips and nuts.
The Dining Experience
The executive lounge remains a highlight of Conrad Shenzhen. Open throughout the day, it offers a range of soft and hot drinks, along with breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hours featuring alcoholic beverages. The afternoon tea spread included savory snacks like sandwiches, desserts, and fresh fruit, while the happy hour offerings were impressive: salads, cold cuts, soups, hot dishes, desserts, and fruits—all of excellent quality.
For breakfast, executive guests can choose between the executive lounge and The Common Room, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. While the latter offers a more extensive selection, it tends to be busier.
We booked our stay through Hilton’s Luxury program, taking advantage of a fantastic pay-2-stay-3 promotion. One evening, we used our $100 hotel credit at The Collective Bar, enjoying drinks and snacks in a relaxed atmosphere.
Impeccable Service
The service throughout the hotel was exemplary. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and ready to assist. Unlike a previous visit when the hotel arranged for the retrieval of our delayed luggage from Guangzhou Airport, this stay was hassle-free.
Conclusion
Conrad Shenzhen is one of the pricier luxury hotels in China, with rooms starting at 1,890 RMB with taxes and fees (around 250 USD) per night. But the experience is worth it. You get large, beautifully designed rooms, great dining, helpful service, and top-notch amenities. It’s a great choice if you want a comfortable and stylish stay.
Each stay at Conrad Shenzhen has been fantastic. We can’t wait to return to this wonderful hotel and enjoy its comfort and beautiful surroundings again.
