During our recent journey through Germany, we had the pleasure of staying at one of Hilton’s newly opened properties, the Hilton Heidelberg. This upscale hotel, which opened its doors in December 2023, stands as a remarkable transformation of the former Hotel Schrieder. The renovation harmoniously blends the building’s historical charm with contemporary design, offering an ideal base for exploring the enchanting city of Heidelberg.
Prime Location
Hilton Heidelberg’s location is nothing short of exceptional. Nestled within walking distance of Heidelberg’s Old Town, guests can immerse themselves in the city’s rich history without needing any transportation. The Old Town boasts ancient buildings, scenic streets, and charming squares, all of which are easily accessible from the hotel. For those arriving by car, the hotel provides parking at a rate of 25 EUR per night. Alternatively, street parking nearby is available, though it’s restricted to three hours during the day and free overnight; note that the parking meters only accept coins.
Elegant Design and Comfortable Rooms
The renovation has artfully integrated the building’s historical features with modern design elements.
Upon arrival, we were delighted to be upgraded to a King Executive King Bedroom. Although modest in size at 27 square meters (290 square feet), the room was perfectly clean and provides a cozy yet functional space. It features natural brown tones that create a calming ambiance, a minimalistic bathroom with a walk-in shower, and conveniences such as an espresso machine and a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary soft drinks and water.

Executive Lounge Benefits
The Executive Lounge, located on the ground floor, offers exclusive amenities for elite members and executive room guests. Guests can enjoy all-day access to snacks, hot and cold beverages, and an evening service featuring alcoholic drinks and canapés. While the evening buffet featured a limited selection, the quality was excellent, and everything we tried was delicious.
Dining Experience
Breakfast is served in Restaurant Schrieder, also on the ground floor. The buffet includes a wide variety of options, complemented by a la carte egg dishes prepared to order and delivered to the table. This combination of buffet and table service ensures a satisfying start to the day, with high-quality food and attentive service.
Additional Amenities
Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the hotel’s 24-hour fitness center, which is well-equipped for a variety of workouts. Whether you’re an early riser or prefer a late-night session, the facility ensures that staying active is convenient during your stay.
Service and Hospitality
Throughout our weekend at Hilton Heidelberg, the staff’s warmth and professionalism stood out. Whether interacting with receptionists or lounge attendants, guests can expect a high standard of hospitality that enhances their overall experience. The welcoming atmosphere adds a personal touch to the stay.
Conclusion
Hilton Heidelberg is a splendid addition to Hilton’s portfolio, offering an inviting blend of history, modern comforts, and outstanding service. Whether you’re visiting Heidelberg for its storied past, picturesque streets, or simply to unwind, this hotel provides a perfect retreat. Our weekend stay left us with fond memories, and we eagerly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to this beautiful city.
