Abu Dhabi’s hotel scene keeps getting better, and Hilton is about to make it even more exciting. The city already has some great Hilton options, but by the end of 2025, travelers will be able to check into Eastern Mangroves Abu Dhabi, LXR Hotels & Resorts — a brand-new luxury property that blends the calm of nature with the buzz of the city.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because the resort used to be the Anantara Eastern Mangroves. It closed in May 2024 and is now getting a full rebrand under Hilton’s luxury LXR Hotels & Resorts brand. The project was originally planned as a Waldorf Astoria, but Hilton changed direction and went with LXR instead. The resort already shows up in the Hilton Honors app with an opening date of December 2025, but you can’t book it just yet.
Hilton in Abu Dhabi Today
If you’ve been to Yas Island, you’ve probably noticed Hilton’s strong presence there. The island is all about fun, with Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld and the Formula 1 track. Here you’ll find Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection, and DoubleTree by Hilton Yas Island Residences. In the city itself, Hilton offers the boutique-style Royal Rose Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection, and the stunning Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers. That Conrad used to be Jumeirah at Etihad Towers before getting a rebrand in 2020.
What Makes the New LXR Special
The new LXR will be Hilton’s second luxury property in Abu Dhabi, and the location couldn’t be more unique. It sits right on the Mangrove National Park, home to flamingos, herons, turtles, and even dolphins. You’ll be able to kayak or take a boat through peaceful lagoons during the day, then head into the city for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, or dinner on Yas Island in the evening. It’s the best of both worlds — total relaxation surrounded by nature, without missing out on the city highlights.
The new LXR will feature 167 rooms and suites. Expect three swimming pools (including one just for adults), a full spa with hammam treatments, and a modern fitness club. Dining will be a highlight too, with a brasserie, a rooftop specialty restaurant, a pool lounge, and a lobby bar, plenty of options for a relaxed meal or a night out.
