If you hold the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card or the Ritz-Carlton Credit Card, you’re in for a treat: an annual 85,000-point Free Night Award. This certificate is your ticket to incredible stays at Marriott properties worldwide, redeemable for any standard room up to 85,000 points per night. And you can even top it up with an extra 15,000 points, unlocking stays at properties that cost up to 100,000 points. That means luxury resorts, high-end city-center hotels, and once-in-a-lifetime getaways are all within reach.
Get the Best Value
To squeeze every drop of value from your certificate, compare the cash rate versus points rate. Marriott Bonvoy points are typically worth 0.7–0.8 cents each, meaning your 85K certificate translates to roughly $595–$680 in value. And if you redeem during peak season or at high-end properties, your value can be even higher.
Smart Strategies for Redemption
Think resorts, think prime city hotels, many travelers use their certificate to enjoy luxury stays without breaking the bank. Even a single night can feel like a splurge, and if you combine your certificate with extra points bookings, you can stretch your stay even further. Marriott’s Stay 5, Pay 4 promotion works on award stays too, giving you even more bang for your points.
Luxury city hotels are a smart move, especially for special occasion getaways. They often fall right within the 85K–100K range and offer prime locations, from downtown hubs to beachfront escapes.
Another savvy strategy? Use your certificate during peak seasons or holidays, when cash rates soar. If you’re booking multiple nights, apply your free night to the most expensive night – instant savings.
Don’t wait to use your Free Night Certificate. While it’s valid for a full year, it’s best to redeem it sooner rather than later to avoid any unexpected devaluation. The same goes for your points—rather than hoarding them, put them to work for your dream vacations.
Keep in mind, your certificate only applies to standard rooms up to 100,000 points per night. That’s a key difference from the Hilton Free Night Reward, which has more flexibility. For example, earlier this year we enjoyed two nights at Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort in Dubai. The standard room cost 96,000 points per night, perfect for our 85K certificate plus top-up. Unfortunately, rates have since increased to a minimum of 108,000 points per night, making it no longer eligible for certificate redemptions.
