In February 2024, Hilton and Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) announced an exclusive strategic partnership. Concurrently, Hyatt revealed that their strategic relationship with SLH would conclude in May 2024.
Although detailed information about the SLH and Hilton partnership remains scarce, this collaboration is poised to significantly expand Hilton’s global luxury portfolio. Hilton customers will gradually gain access to SLH’s unique collection of high-end boutique hotels worldwide. Participating SLH hotels will be bookable through all Hilton channels, reaching a broader audience while preserving their unique, independent character.
About Small Luxury Hotels of the World
Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), established more than 30 years ago, is a collection of independently owned luxury hotels. SLH aims to offer discerning travelers luxurious, unique, and personalized travel experiences in a variety of beautiful and culturally rich destinations.
Why is the SLH Collection Special and What Can We as Hilton Customers Expect?
The SLH collection is renowned for its distinctiveness and high standards. Here are the key points that make it special and what Hilton customers can expect:
Boutique Luxurious Nature: SLH properties are boutique hotels, averaging 50 rooms per property, offering a more intimate and exclusive atmosphere compared to larger hotels. Each SLH hotel is independently owned, providing a unique experience that often reflects the local culture and environment. Hilton customers can expect stays that are personalized and distinct, deviating from the uniformity of chain hotels. SLH hotels ensure a high level of personalization and attention to detail.
Global Reach: The collection includes 571 hotels in more than 90 countries and features a variety of accommodation types, from urban hotels and resorts to historic properties, beach resorts, and countryside retreats.
Selective Membership: Hotels must meet stringent quality standards to be accepted into the SLH collection. This ensures that guests can expect a high level of service and luxury. Every year, a 100-strong team of travel experts, known as mystery inspectors, visit all the properties to ensure that the sky-high standards are maintained and award the SLH seal of approval.
Sustainability Focus: SLH promotes eco-friendly practices among its member hotels. This includes efforts to reduce carbon footprints, support local communities, and preserve cultural heritage.
Exclusive Benefits: SLH offers a loyalty program called INVITED, similar to Hilton Honors. INVITED provides guests with exclusive benefits such as room upgrades, complimentary breakfasts, and early check-ins/late check-outs, with three membership levels. Hilton Honors elite members can expect the same benefits they are accustomed to at other Hilton properties. are required to book directly through Hilton to receive their benefits; booking through the SLH platform or third-party sites will not qualify them for these privileges.
As Hilton Honors members, we’re eagerly anticipating our upcoming experiences staying at SLH properties. The first hotels have already been added to the Hilton Honors App, although booking isn’t yet available. Currently, we’re unsure of the exact number of SLH properties participating in the partnership with Hilton, but we anticipate a setup similar to the previous arrangement with Hyatt, which provided access to 268 SLH properties through their platform.
In this initial phase of the Hilton-SLH partnership, three hotels in Europe are already listed on the Hilton platform. It’s just a matter of time before we can make reservations:
- Flemings Mayfair (UK)
- Nobu Hotel Marbella (Spain)
- Teranka Formentera, Balearic Islands (Spain)
