About Steigenberger Hotels
The company was founded by Albert Steigenberger in 1930, when he took over the longstanding hotel Europäischer Hof in Baden-Baden, laying the cornerstone for what the company is today. He relied on the support of his family, and by the end of the 1950s, he had added several prestigious hotels to the company, including Frankfurter Hof in Frankfurt am Main and Hotel Badischer Hof in Baden-Baden. After his death, the company continued as a family running business by his descendants. His son, Egon, focused on the internationalization of the company and its successful growth. The brand has consistently expanded its presence across Europe, maintaining a focus on high standards of service and attention to detail.
Between 2000 and 2010, the Steigenberger Group, by then a joint-stock corporation, became one of Europe’s leading hotel companies, with annual revenues of 441.3 million euros and 5,400 employees. In 2020, the company was acquired by the NASDAQ-listed hotel group H World (Huazhu) and renamed H World International. Its portfolio now consists of nine distinguished brands: Steigenberger Icons, Steigenberger Porsche Design Hotels, Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, House of Beats, MAXX by Steigenberger, Jaz in the City, IntercityHotel, Zleep Hotels, and the new addition, Ji Hotel.
