Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan and More: Exciting Hotel Openings in 2025

Waldorf Astoria is set to make major strides in 2025 with a series of significant developments, including the highly anticipated reopening of its flagship property in New York and the launch of new luxury hotels in key international locations.

For the first time, Waldorf Astoria will enter the Costa Rican market with a new resort in Punta Cacique, offering a tropical luxury retreat. In Japan, the brand will debut in Osaka, aiming to provide a high-end accommodation option in the country’s second-largest city.

Additionally, Waldorf Astoria will open a new ultra-luxury property in China, marking the brand’s fifth hotel in the country. The new Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan will join existing properties in Beijing, Shanghai on the Bund, Xiamen, and Chengdu. The opening is planned for July 2025, although reservations are not yet being accepted.

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan will offer a more tranquil experience compared to Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, which sits in the heart of the bustling city. Situated in the city’s newly developed Central Business District, the new hotel will feature stunning views of the Huangpu River and Qiantan Youcheng Park, offering a serene escape with easy access to the city.

The hotel’s design blends Shanghai’s historic Art Deco style with modern touches and local art. Guests can look forward to variety of dining options, including the all-day restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, the elegant Peacock Alley lounge, and ARAME, a Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant on the top floor offering Min cuisine from the Fujian province, also featuring private dining rooms.

Hotel amenities will include a full-service spa, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and versatile event spaces designed to accommodate a wide range of needs. While details on the hotel are still limited, the much-anticipated opening promises an unforgettable experience for luxury travelers.
