Exploring southern China is always an adventure, and finding the perfect hotel adds an extra layer of excitement to our travels. This time, our destination was Guangzhou’s bustling downtown, where we stumbled upon a newly refurbished Curio Collection by Hilton property: Yuexiu Hotel Guangzhou. Opened in 2024, this hotel is part of a relatively new Hilton brand in China, which currently features only three properties. Naturally, we couldn’t resist the chance to experience it firsthand.
Perfect Location for Exploring Guangzhou
Yuexiu Hotel Guangzhou boasts an unbeatable location for immersing yourself in the cultural heart of the city. The famous Yuexiu Park is just steps away, making it an ideal spot for morning strolls or leisurely afternoon exploration. Nearby, you’ll find several of Guangzhou’s most iconic landmarks: the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, and the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, all within walking distance.
A Warm Welcome and a Generous Upgrade
We arrived at the hotel ahead of the official check-in time, but to our delight, our room was ready. Thanks to the Hilton Honors app, we knew in advance that we’d been upgraded from a standard room to a Deluxe Suite. What a treat!
The suite was like a cozy apartment, with 646 sq. ft. (60 sq. m.) of space. It had a living room with a fully equipped kitchen, including a washing machine, and a separate bedroom. The modern design, bright colors, and brand-new furniture made it feel fresh and welcoming. The bathroom had a walk-in rain shower and a bathtub, perfect for relaxing.
Our room overlooked the courtyard and the outdoor swimming pool. Rooms facing the park might have better views, but they could also be noisier due to the nearby road.
Lounge for Relaxation and other Dining Options
As elite members, we enjoyed access to the executive lounge, open from 2 pm. It offered afternoon tea and a happy hour buffet. The lounge had modern decor similar to the rooms, though it didn’t have windows.
The afternoon tea included savory snacks and fruit desserts, while the happy hour buffet featured a salad bar, cold cuts, six hot dishes, and a variety of desserts and fruits. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Breakfast was served in the all-day dining restaurant Kitchen Craft on the second floor same as the executive lounge. The variety was impressive, with local dishes like dim sum and noodles alongside international favorites. It was a great way to start the day.
The hotel also offers for lunch and dinner Yuexiu Chinese Restaurant with authentic Cantonese cuisine and 1960 Rooftop Bar, a great spot for evening drinks with a view.
