Conrad Athens The Ilisian: Opening June 2026

Big news for anyone planning a trip to Greece: Conrad Athens finally has an opening date! Originally expected in late 2025, the debut has been pushed back just a little. The good news? You can already book your stay starting June 1, 2026.

Taking over the legendary former Hilton Athens, this new Conrad will bring fresh modern luxury to a building that already has a big place in the city’s history. When the Hilton first opened in 1963, it was a milestone for Greek tourism. Jacqueline Kennedy even attended the grand opening party. Now, the same building is set to welcome a new era as Conrad Athens, also called The Ilisian.

The Ilisian will have 280 guest rooms and suites, each with incredible views of Athens’ famous landmarks. And if you’re looking for something over-the-top, there’s a 400-square-meter mega rooftop suite that’s sure to wow anyone. Plus, the upper floors will feature 18 exclusive Conrad Residences and 37 Waldorf Astoria Residences—perfect for those who want a private slice of luxury.

Honoring Athens’ Heritage

The name “The Ilisian” comes from the historic Ilisos River and the surrounding Ilisia neighborhood. This connection to the city’s roots runs through the entire project, including the preserved façades of the building, originally designed by artist Yannis Moralis.

The Ilisian will have 280 guest rooms and suites, each with incredible views of Athens’ famous landmarks. And if you’re looking for something over-the-top, there’s a 400-square-meter mega rooftop suite that’s sure to wow anyone.

Here’s what travelers can expect:

  • 280 guest rooms and suites with sweeping views of Athens.

  • A 400-square-meter mega rooftop suite for those looking for something truly special.

  • A semi-Olympic outdoor pool and a 700-meter rooftop running track.

  • A private members’ club, fine dining restaurants, premium shopping, and wellness spaces.

For now, you can only book stays in June and July 2026. Prices start at $640 (€541) per night if you book in advance, or $746 (€630) if you want the flexibility to cancel. Standard rooms are also available for 120,000 Hilton Honors points per night and with many cash rates running higher, this could be one of those times when using points really pays off.
