Taking over the legendary former Hilton Athens, this new Conrad will bring fresh modern luxury to a building that already has a big place in the city’s history. When the Hilton first opened in 1963, it was a milestone for Greek tourism. Jacqueline Kennedy even attended the grand opening party. Now, the same building is set to welcome a new era as Conrad Athens, also called The Ilisian.
The Ilisian will have 280 guest rooms and suites, each with incredible views of Athens’ famous landmarks. The name “The Ilisian” comes from the historic Ilisos River and the surrounding Ilisia neighborhood. This connection to the city’s roots runs through the entire project, including the preserved façades of the building, originally designed by artist Yannis Moralis.
