Sometimes, you don’t need a hotel room for an entire night—just a few hours to rest, work, or freshen up before your next flight or meeting. That’s where hotel Day Rooms come in. They’re perfect for business travelers, remote workers, or those facing long layovers. But how easy is it to book one?
We took a closer look at four major hotel chains—Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and IHG—to see how they handle Day Room bookings. Plus, we checked third-party platforms that offer even more options.
To compare the results, we used the example of booking a Day Room in Frankfurt am Main on April 3. Here’s what we found.
Hilton: The Most User-Friendly Option
Hilton makes booking a Day Room incredibly simple. Just enter the same date for check-in and check-out on their website or app, and available Day Use rates will appear alongside standard overnight rates.
Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members receive their elite benefits, including lounge access (where available), breakfast perks, and Hilton Honors points. Additionally, Day Use rates count toward Hilton Honors elite status.
You can find Hilton’s Day Use package offer here.

Our Test Case:
Hilton has 11 hotels in the Frankfurt area, and six of them offer Day Use rooms, including two at the airport.
Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport offers a Day Room from 9 AM to 6 PM for €85, compared to the overnight rate of €151 (April 3-4).
Marriott: Possible but Confusing
Marriott offers Day Rooms under the special rate code ZDY, but the booking process isn’t as intuitive. You must select two consecutive dates, making it appear as though you’re booking an overnight stay.
Booking a Day Room at a Marriott hotel does not earn Marriott Bonvoy points, as overnight stays are required for eligibility. However, elite members can access executive lounges if available.
You can find Marriott’s Stay for the Day offer here. This offer is limited to airport hotels in Europe, however with the code ZDY you can find Marriott hotels worldwide offering the day room.

Our Test Case:
Marriott has 25 hotels in Frankfurt, but only three offer Day Use rates—all of them at the airport (as also stated in the offer).
Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel and Conference Center offers a Day Room from 8 AM to 6 PM for €150, compared to the overnight rate of €154 (April 3-4).
Hyatt: Limited Availability
Hyatt’s version of a Day Room is called Office for the Day, bookable with the special offer code OFFICE. Unfortunately, like Marriott, Hyatt also requires you to select two consecutive dates, adding unnecessary complexity to the process.
On the plus side, World of Hyatt members can earn points for Office for the Day bookings, and these stays count toward elite-tier status.
You can find Hyatt’s Office for the Day package offer here.

Our Test Case:
Hyatt operates nine hotels in Frankfurt, but only Hyatt House Frankfurt Eschborn offers an Office for the Day rate.
The Day Room is available from 7 AM to 7 PM for €75, compared to the overnight rate of €109 (April 3-4, for World of Hyatt members).
IHG: No Direct Booking Available
IHG does not currently allow Day Room bookings through its website. Instead, a Google search reveals Day Use offers through third-party platforms like Dayuse.com.
While IHG hotels may be available through these platforms, bookings made this way do not qualify for IHG One Rewards points, elite benefits, or night credits—important factors for frequent travelers.
Third-Party Booking Sites: More Choices but No Elite Benefits
For travelers looking for more flexibility, platforms like Dayuse.com offer a broad selection of hotels for short daytime stays. These sites feature hotels from major chains like IHG, Hyatt, and Marriott, sometimes including properties that don’t list Day Rooms on their own websites.
Our Test Case:
Dayuse listed 59 hotels offering Day Rooms in Frankfurt.
Some properties, like Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport, were available through Dayuse but not directly with Hyatt.
Additional Marriott properties, such as Frankfurt Marriott Hotel and Le Méridien Frankfurt, were listed on Dayuse but not on Marriott’s website.
Dayuse.com is user-friendly and has largely positive reviews on Trustpilot. However, loyalty program members should note that bookings through third-party platforms do not include elite benefits or points—a significant trade-off for those who value status perks.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for the simplest way to book a Day Room, Hilton is by far the easiest and most reliable option. Marriott and Hyatt offer Day Use rates, but their booking processes can be confusing. Meanwhile, IHG does not allow direct Day Room bookings at all.
Third-party sites like Dayuse.com provide more options but come at the cost of loyalty benefits.
