Our first stay at Conrad Guangzhou was in the summer of 2023, and we returned during the festive season in December 2024. Both visits took place during peak seasons, yet the hotel managed the bustling atmosphere with remarkable efficiency and grace.
Location: A Gateway to Modern Guangzhou
Conrad Guangzhou is right in Zhujiang New Town, the city’s vibrant Central Business District. It’s connected to the upscale IGC mall, and the views? Absolutely stunning. Picture the Pearl River and the iconic Canton Tower lighting up the skyline. During our stay, we spent plenty of time walking along the river and through the modern city streets.
The hotel’s location also makes it easy to explore both sides of Guangzhou—the old town with its narrow streets and charming little cafes, and the modern skyscraper-filled new town. Plus, Flower City Square (Guangzhou’s largest public square) and the Guangdong Museum are just a short stroll away.
A Smooth Welcome
We arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon, a bit before the official check-in time. The front desk staff informed us that our room wasn’t ready yet but invited us to wait in the Executive Lounge. After a quick refreshment in the lounge, we received our room keys within 10 minutes.
During our first stay, we were upgraded to a King Panoramic View Room, a corner room filled with natural light and offering an extraordinary view of the Canton Tower. For our December visit, we were upgraded to a King Executive Room on a high floor. While it wasn’t a corner room, the Canton Tower view was equally stunning, and the room’s thoughtful design more than made up for the difference.
Both room types share the same generous size of 49 square meters (527 square feet). The décor features warm, light wood tones that create a soothing ambiance. The rooms include a plush king-sized bed, a round table with a chair, and a comfortable sofa.
The marble bathroom stands out with its partially open design, offering a separate standing bathtub, double vanities, and a walk-in rain shower. The wardrobe, conveniently located in the entrance corridor, adds to the room’s functionality. As a warm gesture, the hotel welcomed us with fresh fruits and homemade cookies.
The Executive Lounge: A True Highlight
The Executive Lounge at Conrad Guangzhou is a standout feature, thanks to its excellent staff who are attentive, friendly, and professional. Open throughout the day, the lounge offers breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hour, with a selection that rivals many luxury hotels in China.
Breakfast in the lounge, while smaller in variety compared to the main restaurant Sense, provides a more private and serene setting. The afternoon tea and happy hour selections were impressive. Happy hour offered salads, cold cuts, hot local and international dishes, fruits, and desserts. Alcoholic beverages were also available during happy hour, making it a truly enjoyable experience.
Dining: A Culinary Adventure
Conrad Guangzhou is home to two Michelin-starred restaurants: Yun Pavilion, specializing in Cantonese cuisine, and Aroma, which offers modern European dishes. We dined at Aroma and were delighted by the unique fusion of Chinese and Mediterranean flavors. The meals were not only delicious but also a creative culinary experience that we won’t forget.
Amenities and Facilities
The hotel’s facilities include a well-equipped fitness center, the signature Conrad Guangzhou Spa, and a 25-meter-long heated indoor pool, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
