Hilton Honors News 2026: Diamond Reserve Tier Confirmed + Easier Status for Gold & Diamond

The waiting is finally over. The Hilton Honors news we have been anticipating is here. Hilton has just published a complete overview of the Hilton Honors program changes, and the news is both exciting and complex. Starting January 1, 2026, the path to Gold and Diamond status gets significantly easier, and a brand-new, ultra-exclusive tier, Diamond Reserve, is taking the top spot.

Here is what you need to know about the biggest shakeup to Hilton Honors in years, covering new tiers, easier qualification, and changes to how you earn points.

Fewer Nights, Same Perks: Easier Access to Gold and Diamond

The most immediate and positive news for the majority of members is the significantly lowered qualification requirements for the existing Gold and Diamond tiers. You can earn status faster than ever, without losing the benefits you rely on!

To achieve or maintain Gold or Diamond status, you must meet ANY ONE of the following requirements in a calendar year:

Introducing: Hilton Honors Diamond Reserve

The biggest headline is the confirmation of the new Diamond Reserve status, designed to reward Hilton’s most loyal, high-spending guests. This tier sits squarely above the traditional Diamond status.

Diamond Reserve is intended for true top-tier travelers and cannot be reached via credit card. Qualification requires meeting BOTH the stay/night threshold AND the spending threshold:

Diamond Reserve delivers a premium, guaranteed experience, including:

  • Confirmable Upgrade Reward (CUR): The program’s new hallmark. Lock in a premium room or up to a one-bedroom suite for stays of up to seven nights at the time of booking on eligible stays. You receive one CUR upon qualifying, with the option to earn a second at the 120-night milestone (or take 30,000 bonus points instead).
  • Guaranteed 4 p.m. Late Checkout: No more asking “if available.” This is a guaranteed benefit on every eligible stay.
  • Dedicated 24/7 Customer Service: Access to an exclusive Diamond Reserve support desk for concierge-style assistance.
  • Premium Lounge Access: Complimentary access to Executive Lounges and Hilton’s growing collection of Premium Clubs.
  • 120% Bonus Points: The highest elite earning bonus in the program.

Other Key Program Changes You Need to Know

Beyond the new status tiers, Hilton is making several important adjustments that impact how you earn points and maintain status.

A significant change for frequent guests of these brands is a reduction in base point earning at two key properties. Starting January 8, 2026, new stays booked at Homewood Suites and Spark by Hilton will earn 5 Points per $1 USD, which is a reduction from the current rate of 10 Points per $1. While elite tier bonuses remain the same: Silver (20%), Gold (80%), Diamond (100%), and Diamond Reserve (120%). The lower base rate means your total points earned on these stays will be significantly reduced.

Additionally, the structure of the popular Milestone Bonuses is being adjusted to reward ultra-long-term stays. Milestone Bonuses are now earned up to 180 nights. This allows the most dedicated Hilton travelers to earn a total of up to 210,000 points annually from this benefit alone.

Finally, a feature relied upon by many for status continuity is leaving: this is the Last Call for Elite Rollover Nights. If you relied on Rollover Nights to give you a head start on the following year’s status, prepare for a change, as this feature will be rolling over for the last time in 2026. This means any qualifying nights you earn in excess of your 2025 status requirement will roll over and be applied toward earning status in 2026, but the feature will be officially retired for the 2027 qualification year and beyond.

What About Lifetime Diamond Members?

There are no changes to the benefits or overall requirements for Lifetime Diamond Status. The only update is a technical adjustment: instead of requiring 2,000,000 base points, Hilton will now express this threshold as $200,000 in base spending.

The qualification paths remain the same: 10 years of Diamond status + 1,000 nights OR $200,000 in base spend.

Conclusion

As long-time Hilton loyalists, we see these upcoming changes as overwhelmingly positive and strategically well-designed.

For the vast majority of members, the biggest win arrives in 2026: qualifying for Gold and Diamond status will become noticeably easier, while the most valuable perks, including the Daily Food & Beverage Credit and Executive Lounge access for Diamond guests, remain unchanged. This makes meaningful Hilton status more attainable than ever.

The new top tier, Diamond Reserve, adds fresh motivation for guests who stay frequently and spend significantly within the brand. This tier is expected to shine at high-end U.S. hotels and resorts, where premium lounges and enhanced service matter most. Complimentary access to Hilton’s expanding Premium Clubs, often limited today to certain room types or paid access paired with the long-awaited Confirmable Upgrade Reward, finally gives Hilton a true competitor to Hyatt Globalist and Marriott’s upper-elite offerings.

The only open question is whether the existing Executive Lounges in Asia and Europe will remain accessible to Diamond members – something we sincerely hope Hilton protects, rather than converting them into Premium Clubs reserved only for paid guests or Diamond Reserve elites.
