A Big Luxury Switch in Singapore: InterContinental Bugis Becomes The Luxury Collection in 2026

Singapore’s hotel scene is about to get an exciting shake-up. One of the city’s most recognisable luxury hotels, InterContinental Singapore in Bugis, is officially changing flags. At the end of 2025, the hotel will leave the IHG portfolio and reopen in January 2026 as a Luxury Collection hotel by Marriott International.

From InterContinental to The Luxury Collection

The hotel, owned by Frasers Hospitality, will conclude its management agreement with IHG on 31 December 2025. Just a few weeks later, it will return with a new identity under Marriott’s The Luxury Collection, a brand known for distinctive, story-driven luxury hotels rather than standardized five-star experiences.

This will be the second Luxury Collection hotel in Singapore, but notably the first one located in the city centre. The brand made its Singapore debut only recently with The Laurus on Sentosa Island, so this move clearly signals Marriott’s growing confidence in the destination.

If you’ve stayed here before, you already know the biggest strength of this hotel: location.
Set in the heart of the Bras Basah–Bugis district, the property is part of the Bugis Junction complex and offers direct access to Bugis MRT Station, a huge plus in a city where convenience matters.

You’re also just steps away from some of Singapore’s most atmospheric neighbourhoods, including Kampong Glam and Arab Street, where heritage shophouses, cafés, and boutiques define the area’s unique character. It’s exactly the kind of setting that fits The Luxury Collection philosophy.

Once it reopens, the property will offer 406 guestrooms and suites starting from a generous 409 sq ft (38 sq m), along with a fully equipped fitness centre and an outdoor swimming pool. Guests can also expect six dining and social venues, including an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, and a pool bar. In addition, the hotel will provide around 10,764 sq ft (1,000 sq m) of flexible event space, highlighted by an impressive 5,812 sq ft (540 sq m) ballroom.

Good News for Marriott Bonvoy Members

Naturally, the hotel will become part of the Marriott Bonvoy program once it joins The Luxury Collection. That means points earning and redemption, elite benefits, and another strong luxury option in Singapore alongside The St. Regis Singapore, JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, and The Singapore Edition, which opened in late 2023.

Conclusion

The popular InterContinental Singapore in Bugis will leave the IHG portfolio and reopen in early 2026 as a Luxury Collection hotel by Marriott. The hotel will, of course, become part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points on their stays. For Marriott loyalists, this is definitely a very attractive new addition to the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in Singapore. We’re looking forward to seeing how this transformation unfolds in 2026.
